Prentice House is able to provide for our residents educational needs in a variety of ways. When a resident is admitted into Prentice House they are immediately enrolled in either the middle school or high school. For those students not yet prepared for the public school setting we provide an on-site school supervised by the Ashland School District and located on the premise of Prentice House II. The school district provides the teacher and the curriculum, while Prentice House maintains the location and provides staff for extra supervision. The on-site school schedule is a half a day with students earning credit in English, math, science, and social studies. PE credit is earned outside the classroom hours through our staff supervised exercise program. Once students are prepared to attend classes in a public school setting, classes are scheduled for them at the beginning of the next quarter for attendance at either Ashland Middle School or Ashland High School. At that time any IEP services are addressed. We work closely with the schools and teachers to assure that the students are maintaining academic progress and appropriate behaviors, evident by some of our residents earning honor roll status each quarter. Our students have the privilege of participating in the extracurricular activities the schools have to offer such as; individual and team sports, drama performances, school dances, or attending school sponsored events.
